Helen's Baby Quilt

I have recently worked on the cutest baby quilt! It is made from a free pattern, Anita's Arrowhead, from Anita Grossman Solomon, taken from her new book,
Rotary Cutting Revolution and her website, makeitsimpler.com
It is the coolest technique that I have seen in a long time!
This is Helen's quilt made from sweet baby fabrics.

It is quilted with a pantograph called, "Windy Day" by Hermione Agee.
I love the look!

Carton wallet Pattern

I am sick of the carton wallet side posting turning on every time I come to the blog, so I am going to actually post it! You can get the template by just clicking on the link below.

These are three that I have made. The cow one is my favorite.
Remember, whatever is at the bottom of the carton front
will be on the front flap of your wallet.
Aren't they cute?
And, they are made out of something that you would throw away!
Perfect!

Carton Wallet

Materials:
Recycle a milk or orange juice carton into a clever carrying case for change, trading cards, and more. The carton's cap keeps the wallet closed.
  • Half gallon milk or juice carton with plastic cap, rinsed
  • Scissors
  • Paper towels
  • Tape
  • Wallet Template
  • Ballpoint pen
  • Ruler
  • Craft knife (optional)
  • Butter knife
Instructions
  1. Carton Wallet - Step 1 Cut open the carton so it lies flat, as shown; put aside the cap for now. Dry the inside with the paper towels. Tape thetemplate on top of the carton so that the top circle lines up with the spout. Mark the outline of the template with a ballpoint pen. Using firm pressure, trace the lower circle and the dotted lines of the template so that they transfer to the carton. (This will score the lines for easier folding.) A ruler will help you mark the straight lines. Cut out the shape from the carton.
  2. Carton Wallet - Step 2 Use scissors to cut out the lower circle as marked. (Tip: To make cutting out the circle easier, first make an X with a craft knife.) Use a ruler and a butter knife to further score the fold lines.
  3. Carton Wallet - Step 3 Following the fold lines you marked, create an accordion fold on each side of the wallet.
  4. Carton Wallet - Step 4 Tightly squeeze the accordion folds. Fold the top flap down, pushing the spout through the hole. Screw on the cap to keep the flap in place.

Register Tape Paper Piecing

I love to go to quilterscache.com to see what new quilt blocks or ideas that Marcia Hohn has posted. Today I read about a very fun, creative and frugal idea...Register Tape Paper Piecing. This is the idea that she shared. I rather like it!

"I (Marcia) started a futzy little quilting project yesterday-Register Tape Paper Piecing. Yeah it's a little silly, but who cares! LOL! While at work these past few months I kept running into the situation that the roll of register tape would show pink when it was running low. You would then change the tape ASAP after that happened rather than run out of tape during a transaction. This kept leaving me with small rolls of paper--still enough to do "something" with. It drove me crazy to just toss them...so home they came! I am just doing endless paper piecing with scraps...then will iron, and cut off evenly with the edge of the tape = instant piano key borders or sashing strips. It appeals to my frugal side. LOL!"

Isn't that great? Then you will have borders or sashing ready to go whenever you need it. I am impressed with Marcia's idea!
