I have been visiting with my Mother and in her town is wonderful lake! I love walking at the lake! It is so beautiful! So, my inspiration for you is the lake... specifically, the walking paths at the lake. I love the idea of paths and pathways and how it could, possibly, be incorporated into a quilt. Does it give you good ideas?

Inspirations in Floral
This past week I was in Utah and took these pictures of the flowers on Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah. They are so beautiful!
This one was my favorite tulip... yellow with red tips!
I wish that I had zoomed in a bit more.
Actually, I wish that I taken more pictures. Period!

Inspirations!
I am very impressed with the old architecture in Galveston. I took pictures of some doors, doorways, arches and brickwork that we passed when we walked around. Does it give you any ideas for a new quilt? Maybe a new color combination? Or a new block? Or quilting design?
Isn't it all so impressive! Beautiful!

Another Quilting Inspiration...
This is my brother-in-law's little cabin behind his house on the Utah/Idaho border. I love the rustic, cozy look with all of the snow covering and surrounding it. Could you make a quilt with a lot of whites, creams and tans? Maybe even include blues for the sky? I love this picture!

Quilt Inpirations
I have begun taking pictures of things that I see that inspire me to make another quilt. Don't you love the color combinations of flowers? I especially love Hydrangeas and these two bushes were especially beautiful. I am going to make a blues with greens quilt... or maybe a blues with purple quilt...Hmmm, what do you think?
Tom Russell
Today I attended a very inspiring presentation given by Tom Russell of the "Simply Quilts" fame. He has done many other things but that is what most of us know him for. He does not quilt in the same "League" as I do. He is way beyond what I can do, BUT he is so enthusiastic about quilting and encouraging others in their own work, that I came away from the meeting feeling very invigorated. These are some of the things that I learned:
"Find a quilter that is as good as your quilt."
This may be strange for me to write on my blog to my quilting customers, but, you need to find someone who will do great work on your quilt (whether that is me or someone else) and you need to improve on your piecing skills with each quilt. We both have a responsibility to improve and help each other to become a better quilter.
"Be the Best Quilter that you can be."
You can do anything that you want with your quilt. Only YOU need to be happy with it.
Isn't that liberating? There are no rules in the quilting world that can't be broken. You are the only one that needs to love it. "I quilt for me," Tom said.
"Listen to your heart when making a quilt. Have Fun!"
"Learn something new with each quilt. Challenge yourself."
Thank you, Tom! I am ready to try something new!
